Statement：
Marks of Matrescence is a documentary about the emotional and bodily changes that follow childbirth. Through interviews and domestic observation, the film explores how postpartum women negotiate memory, identity and self recognition within the everyday spaces of motherhood.I wanted the film to remain intimate and restrained. Digital footage was used to observe the present moment, while Super 8 created a more fragile and reflective texture connected to memory and bodily change.
In the grade, I focused on natural skin tones, soft contrast and continuity across different homes and lighting conditions. The film does not present motherhood as a fixed or idealised image, but as an ongoing process of transformation.
